NaNoWriMo has been really helpful with kicking me in the pants. If you’ve been reading my blog for the past few months, you know that I have been working on (and off) a series set in the Andromeda Galaxy. At the beginning of this week, I was having serious reservations about the book and series. I had decided to put Ingram and pals on the shelf and begin working on a new book. I even announced it on this blog. That was a mistake. But, I’m big on learning from mistakes. And as you are following me on my journey to publication, I figured I’d share with you not only the good stuff, but some of the more confounding things which happen to writers.

After reading a few articles by Larry Brooks, Kristen Lamb and the weekly inspiration message on the NaNo website, I realized that these reservations were normal. Believe it or not, that happens a lot for writers. I guess that’s why it helps to be slightly neurotic if you want to be a writer. There comes a point in the story where things just fall apart. When that happens, instead of running screaming down the street like your hair’s on fire, you rethink your story. Or, as they say on the NaNo website, insert ninjas into the story.

So, panicking ceased and remix completed, I jumped over the hump, and found the passion that I used to have for this series. I got back what intrigued me with this story and why I needed to write it. I’ve revamped the characters, the different solar systems and the plot. Now everything flows the way it should. It all feels “right”. But don’t worry, the only change to Setch is that he is no longer an actual criminal (well, that depends on who you ask.) Setch is now a High Warlord in the Cathieri solar system. He has the same warped sense of humor and treats people well…until they cross him.

There are five different solar systems introduced in the first book. They are: Politiea, Cathieri, Kratorr, Do’Rean and A’Poil. There will be alien antagonists, beautiful sea animals, a desert race, some space battles and a few explosions (I can’t write this story without at least one thing blowing up).

So back to the original story. But don’t worry, the other one with the five alternate realities is coming soon. That story is too good for me to ignore.

Until next time…….
